Sonshine and Venture will be joining GCISD in taking Tuesday, January 17th off and will resume on Thursday, January 19th. Please remember that if GCISD cancels school for any part of the day, Sonshine and Venture will be closed for the entire day.

“A Birthday Celebration”
a simple Sonshine Christmas

Presented by the Two Year Old, Three Year Old,
Pre-K and Kindergarten Departments of Sonshine Academy.

Tuesday, December 6th
7:00 p.m.
FBC Colleyville Worship Center

No child care provided.
Reception in The Vineyard after the program.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Please have the children dressed in their Christmas clothes and in their classrooms by 6:40 p.m.
• A special film of the Babies and One’s department  will be presented beginning  at 6:45 pm.
• The program will last approx. 45 min, so please make plans to stay and enjoy all of our Sonshine children.

Our verse to focus on in November reminds us so well to be thankful to the Lord for all He is given us. During a camp this summer, a director shared a tradition with us. Their family made a “Remembrance Shelf.” They put objects on the shelf that reminded them of specific events or times when the Lord provided for their family. One item was a small toy car. Their family car was no longer usable and they were left without a vehicle. God laid it on the heart of another family to give them the car they needed that perfectly fit their large family. Periodically, during dinner time, one child picks one thing from the shelf and tells the story of God’s provision. We all have stories and it is so important to tell our children and to keep reminding them of all that He has done. This is a great way to bring that thankfulness into our “everyday” and have our children leading in a time of thanksgiving.
We want to share our blessings with others by having a non-perishable food drive as our 2011 Mission Project.  There are many families right around us that are struggling. This project is such a great opportunity to teach and model giving to our children. It gives them a chance to actively participate by choosing a food item and/or bringing it in to their teacher to share with others. I am praying that this will be a great time of remembering together all that we have to be thankful for and sharing with others.

You are welcome to bring your non-perishable food items to your classroom now through our last school day before the Thanksgiving Break which is Thursday, November 17th. Thank you so much for your support!
